IREDELL COUNTY, NC — When an all-terrain vehicle was reported stolen late last week, it was a set of tire tracks that led investigators straight to the vehicle and the two suspects authorities say took it, Iredell County Sheriff's Office said Tuesday. One suspect was arrested and charged, and the second remains at large. On Aug. 13, deputies responded to the scene of the theft, which occurred on Coolbrook Road in northern Iredell County. "Upon further investigation, all-terrain vehicle tire tracks were located near the crime scene, which the victim stated was the same tire tracks from the stolen vehicle," ICSO said. "This helped the deputies to determine the vehicle was pushed off of the property and onto the road." Investigators later spotted tire tracks nearby at 432 Coolbrook Road. "These tire tracks matched the ones found in the victim's yard. The stolen ATV was located and returned to the owner," ICSO said. Two men located at the address — Jacob Joe Hayes, 18, of the home; and William Tyler Suber, 19, of Statesville — were interviewed and identified as suspects in the theft, ICSO said. Hayes was arrested Friday and charged with felony larceny of a motor vehicle; felony breaking or entering of a motor vehicle; felony larceny of vehicle parts or accessories; misdemeanor larceny; misdemeanor possession of stolen property, and misdemeanor resist a public officer. Hayes was transported to the Iredell County Detention Center, where his secured bond was set at $25,000, ICSO said. William Tyler Suber, 19, of Statesville is wanted for connection to a stolen vehicle, Iredell County Sheriff's Office said. Photo courtesy ICSO.Suber, however, has not yet been located and is now considered a wanted person by the sheriff's office. ICSO said anyone with information about Suber's whereabouts is asked to call the sheriff's office at 704-878-3100.
