This is a Casual and Union position with SEIU-USWW. Pay Rate: $14.70per hour SHIFT HOURS: 11:00PM - 7:30AM *** MUST BE AVAILABLE TO WORK WEEKENDS *** SUMMARY Responsible for the set-up and tear down of chairs, tables and other related materials/furniture in exhibit halls, lobbies, public and banquet areas and meeting rooms in preparation for various events. This is a casual position; it is event-driven, and work hours are not guaranteed. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned. Sets up chairs, tables, partitions, material/furniture in preparation of various events. Tears down and stacks chairs, tables, partitions and other related material/furniture. Sets up risers in preparations of various events. Follows directions and read room plans to set up for an event. Works efficiently and quickly to set up and tear down an area in preparation for an event. Maintains proper care of uniforms, equipment and supplies. Safely operates assigned Facility Services equipment upon successful completion of equipment training. Types of equipment employees may be assigned to operate could include: forklift and electric cart. SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES This job has no supervisory responsibilities. Requirements QUALIFICATIONS To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. General work experience in a convention center, hotel or large public meeting facility a plus. LANGUAGE SKILLS Basic ability to read instructions in English, with limited number of words. Basic ability to write, understand and speak in English. MATHEMATICAL SKILLS None required for this position. REASONING ABILITY Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out simple one- or two-step instructions. Ability to deal with standardized situations with only occasional or no variables. CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS None. OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES General work experience necessary. Knowledge of safe work practices and procedures. Ability to work day and/or evening shifts, and must include weekends.
