Carefree Boat Club is looking for friendly, responsible dockhands to work part-time (30ish hrs/week) August 10th -October 10th, with opportunity to extend work post-season into November! Job Location: Chicago, Belmont Harbor (must live close by and/or have reliable transportation) JOB SUMMARY: The Dockhand is an essential position within Carefree Boat Club. The dockhand is the first contact our members associate with each day. Although the dockhand has specific daily job duties that are stated in the job description, it is essential that the dockhand assist the club members and their guests with the highest degree of courtesy and professionalism. The member's boating and overall club experience begins at the dock with the dockhand. Primary Duties and Responsibilities: -Review reservation schedules -Provide concierge service for members -Check members out and in from boat outings and collect their fuel used after each outing. -Review weather and brief members -Understand vessels capabilities, systems, amenities and equipment -Operate all vessels confidently around marina and boat to fuel pumps and dock boat in slip -Respect marina and staff to ensure good working relationships -Solid knowledge of surrounding water ways a big plus -Detail Boats to ensure the highest level of cleanliness for members outing as well as deep clean and maintain equipment and dock -Assist with servicing and maintenance of boats Required Qualifications and Qualities: -Proven skills or the willingness to be trained in seamanship, communication, safety, and marina operations. -A positive attitude combined with the ability to communicate fluently and relate well to members in the leisure environment and the ability to manage and motivate self and other dock hands -Commercial awareness and an eye for detail in all aspects of work -Valid driving license -Must be able to stand for long periods, reach, kneel, bend, lift 25+ pounds -Must have Smart phone and be proficient with technology including apple IOS Education/Experience: -High school or equivalent -Any experience with boats, waterways, engines professionally or for recreation is a plus -Experience in customer facing job preferred A flexible approach towards working hours is required. The dockhand position requires shift working across a 6- day a week rotating roster, including public holidays and night time hours. The dockhand should expect to work on weekends.
