TXDOT – AUSTIN LITTER (Driver) TYPE OF EMPLOYMENT: Regular, Full-Time or Part-Time TRAVEL (Overnight): No SHIFTS: Day HOURLY RATE: $15.50 - Paydates: 14th and 28th of each month(after 90 days pay rate goes up to $16.00) REPORTS TO: Driver assigned to Project Manager (Steven Bush) JOB DESCRIPTION: Responsible for operating a truck with a trailer, and driving litter crew to daily locations of litter clean up. Supervises litter pick-up crew while inspecting highway for litter and debris and ensuring removal of items as set forth in contract requirements with Texas Department of Transportation. Must have a clean driving record and be able to pay attention to traffic and be a safe driver. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: • Transports litter pick up crew, using company vehicle, to assigned routes in accordance to contractual agreements with Texas Department of Transportation. • Supervises 3-5 employees, both disabled and non-disabled, on the litter pick up crew. • Inspects current projects for proper use of personnel, equipment and materials, traffic control and quality of work completed as delegated in work contract. • Inspects roadways and evaluates road conditions and areas around the vehicle. • Inspect highway for litter and debris. • Pick up scrap, metal, rags, paper, wood, plastic, glass, and rubber products along roads and highways. • Must be able to endure outdoor weather conditions. • Must be able to walk for long periods of time. • Will help set up safety flags. • Attends meetings/training sessions as requested. • Exhibits and promotes excellent customer service, attitude and skills. • Performs other job-related duties as assigned. • Trains Driver Assistants duties assigned from direct supervisor. WORK SCHEDULE: MONDAY - FRIDAY, occasional some Saturday as well. 6:30am to 4:30pm ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: • Inspect highway for litter and debris • Pick up scrap, metal, rags, paper, wood, plastic, glass, and rubber products along roads and highways. • Must be able to endure outdoor weather conditions. • Must be able to walk for long periods of time.
