Join us to explore how our community can resist racism together with an evening of curiosity and growth!
We are pleased to welcome Regan Byrd to the Lyons Community Library on Wednesday, September 15th. Ms. Byrd is an anti-oppression activist, speaker, and trainer. She was named a “Woman to Watch” by the Denver League of Women Voters, and received the Lily Ledbetter award from 9to5 Colorado. She was recently named “Woman of the Year” by the Business and Professional Women of Denver.
Join this training to learn a brief history of racial classification in the U.S., how it influences our mistaken perceptions of race today, and its implications for anti-racist work in the future. You will deepen your understanding of oppression, privilege, and your role in combating racism as an ally.
The doors open at 5:30 pm, and we will be providing a light meal provided by Rae's and Kay's Puerto Rican and Soul Food.
*This event is the first in a series of Community Conversations on Race and Allyship for the Lyons community. Stay tuned for details of additional upcoming events!
