Description

Dr. Bob Randall will discuss how climate change has changed when and what we can plant in our area. Our climate has been changing quickly. Because both the Gulf and cities warm and cool at a different rate than does the land, areas far from them have very different temperatures, evaporation, and rainfall. Like people and animals, plants have different temperature faves, so if it gets much hotter or colder than that they like, they suffer and get pests. A good look at recent weather data where you garden and some knowledge of the temperatures that plants prefer, will help you grow the right vegetables, herbs, and fruits for your location. This talk helps demystify this important puzzle. The event is free but space is limited. Wabash Feed and Garden is a Houston institution. For over 100 years, we have been supplying feed, seed and farming supplies to Houston's early settlers and today's backyard gardeners.  While it is true we are a feed store, we are much more than that. We are a hardware store, a pet shop an organic herb garden and an antique market.  We are the only place in Houston where you can find holistic pet treatments, vegetable and native plants, natural pet foods, bird feeders, fertilizer and an enormous selection of farm poultry all under one barn roof.
