Description

East Texas Symphony Orchestra & City of Tyler present: Symphony in the Park! East Texas Symphony Orchestra will perform at Bergfeld Park on the beautiful Centene Stage September 4 at 6:00pm. In collaboration, ETSO and the City of Tyler have designed the free concert as a time for the community to gather and enjoy world-class symphonic music during Labor Day Weekend. The concert will bring over fifty ETSO musicians to the stage to perform symphonic music before launching the 2021/2022 Concert Season in November, ‘A Season to Celebrate!’. ETSO Board Chair, Dr. D.M. Edwards states ‘We are thrilled to bring our musicians back to the stage for the first time since February 2020 and are grateful to have the opportunity to perform for the community at Bergfeld Park’. ETSO Music Director, Richard Lee, has put together a wonderful program of music consisting of celebratory, patriotic, and popular Broadway and movie-theme music. Included in the program will be a selection of music previewing the upcoming season. ETSO will open the concert performing the Star-Spangled Banner. City of Tyler Mayor Don Warren will welcome all to the park to kick off the concert. ‘The City of Tyler is fortunate to have many beautiful parks, and the Centene Stage at Bergfeld was designed for music performances,’ says Mayor Warren, ‘this is destiny coming to fruition!’. The mayor also encourages concertgoers to come early for best viewing and listening opportunities. There are some seats permanently installed but are sure to fill quickly. Guests are encouraged to bring picnic blankets or low-back lawn chairs. From concert halls, classrooms, and out in the community, the East Texas Symphony Orchestra has played a vital role in the cultural life of Tyler and the surrounding region since 1936. ETSO upholds its mission of engaging and inspiring the East Texas community with exceptional music education and performance. ETSO is a non-profit organization, relying on community support to fund its operation. The Symphony in the Park is supported in part by Christus Trinity Mother Frances Health System, Music Performance Trust Fund and in collaboration ETSO Musicians’ Union. ETSO Executive Director, Robin Hampton, states ‘We hope that ‘Symphony in the Park’ will become an honored tradition in bringing families, friends, and community together for years to come.’ For more information about the ETSO, The Symphony in the Park at Bergfeld, and the upcoming Concert Season, A Season to Celebrate, please visit www.etso.org or call the ETSO office at 903-526-3876.
