Become a Volunteer Parent Support Counselor Become a Volunteer Parent Support Counselor  Help Strengthen Families and Prevent Child Abuse  Family Paths, Inc. mission is to strengthen family relationships by providing mental health & supportive service with respect, integrity, compassion and hope. We are currently recruiting Volunteers for our Parent Support Line to help us continue to fulfill our mission. Last year with the help of hotline volunteers we assisted over 6000 families with counseling support, parenting tips & strategies, information & referrals to needed community resources, & referrals to Family Paths mental health services. If you are interested in becoming a counselor and/or want to know more of the work that we do and our organization, please attend our upcoming Volunteer Open House:   This will be held via Zoom, and a link will be sent before the event.   Family Paths, Inc. (formerly Parental Stress Service) is a non-profit organization of mental health professionals and dedicated volunteers that provide a number of mental health and supportive services to low income, multi-stressed individuals and families.  We are a multicultural agency committed to serving families of Alameda County regardless of age, ethnicity/race, financial status, language, sexual orientation, immigration status, class, religion, gender, mental or physical ability.  We were founded as a volunteer-run 24-hour parent support hotline in 1972, and today we serve the mental health needs of children and families from offices in Oakland and Hayward. These services include a 24-hour Parent Support & Resource Hotline providing referrals to our counseling services and access to over 900 community resources from our vast database, a Foster Parent Advice Line, CalWORKs Case Management, Positive Parenting Classes, and Family Yoga. We provide counseling for children, adolescents, parents and caregivers, and families.
