Description

WAYLAND, MA — Someday you might be able to walk from one end of Wayland to the other along Route 20 without having to step off the sidewalk into the gutter. An east-west sidewalk along Route 20 is one potential outcome of a planned repaving of the roadway, which the state is planning to begin in 2022. Wayland wants to use the occasion to upgrade the roadway, and recently opened a survey to get feedback from residents about items that should be a priority. Apart from sidewalks and other pedestrian improvements, the town is consider upgrades like bike lanes, plantings and overhead lighting. "The effort to improve the corridor is critically important to the future economic viability and quality of life along Route 20," the town said of the improvements. "Community input on various topics such as safety improvements, accessibility and street design will help shape future improvements." Click here to take the Route 20 corridor survey.
