MARLBOROUGH, MA — If you're considering a run for office in 2021, time is running out.
The deadline for candidates to return paperwork to get on the ballot in Marlborough is Tuesday at 5 p.m. Offices up for election this year include mayor, City Council and School Committee.
And unless something changes by the end of the day on Tuesday, Marlborough won't have much of an election season this year. Almost every incumbent running for reelection is unopposed — in fact, only three non-incumbents have signed up to run across more than a dozen races.
Out of the 18 people who have pulled papers to run, only one had not returned them yet. Here are the candidates and the date each one was certified by the City Clerk as of Aug. 13:
