Job Title: Yard (Shipping & Receiving) Supervisor Job Location: San Jose, CA Job Summary: Under general supervision from the Branch Manager, to manage the day-to-day operations of the warehouse and yard including everything from the material to the yard employees. Primary Duties and Responsibilities: • Directs the maintenance of a safe and healthy working environment by eliminating hazards, training employees, and promoting safety awareness throughout the facility. Overseeing all incident reporting and root cause analysis. • Directly supervises hourly employees. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. • Train, develop and supervise yard staff to meet company standards. Must be hands-on as needed. • Supervises in insure accurate receiving. • Dispatches customer deliveries and inbound material shipments. • Schedules vendor deliveries. • Insures proper loading of flatbed trucking both for safety and maximize efficiency. • Order and purchases parts and equipment. • Responsible for inventory accuracy by insuring all material is shipped and received with accurate documentation, • Schedules the preventive maintenance on equipment • Maintains all maintenance records. • Perform weekly and monthly inspections of all equipment and machinery • Ensure excellent service is provided to customers. • Have the ability to be “the face of the company” to customers and customer employees. • Handle escalated customer issues as needed • Provide direction to team regarding duties and goals • Perform work assigned by Branch Manager to ensure successful operation of yard. • Able to see the big picture to help with Yard and Warehouse layout for space maximization and efficiency of operations. • Looking for a Leader. Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: • Minimum of 5 years experience in the fencing industry or related manufacturing experience. • Minimum of 3 years supervisory experience • Associate or Bachelor's degree preferred • Experience with MAS 200 • Knowledge with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook • Forklift Certified, (current certified training a plus) • Strong written and oral communication skills • A positive and assertive attitude • Ability to lift 50 pounds or more. • Ability to effectively manage time and branch operations. • Ability to multi-task and handle multiple deadlines in a fast paced environment.
