Press release from the City of Albany: August 11, 2021 ALBANY, NY – Albany Mayor Kathy Sheehan announced City spray pads will remain open Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday (August 11, 12, and 13) until 8:00 p.m. (extended from 6:00 p.m.), and also reminded residents of the various ways to keep cool during the current warm weather period. Mayor Sheehan also shared information on how to identify and respond to heat-related illnesses and the importance of staying hydrated. "With temperatures and humidity levels rising, it is important residents are aware of the various ways they can stay cool," said Albany Mayor Kathy Sheehan. "It is also important to remain hydrated, check in on elderly neighbors, and be able to recognize the signs of heat-related illnesses." Should you or someone you know feel overcome by the heat, please move to a cool and shaded location and dial 911. Attached is a graphic from the National Weather Service with recommended ways to stay safe during the warm weather. During extended periods of warm weather, it is important to remain cool and hydrated, and be able to recognize the signs of heat-related illnesses.
