Prepare for the upcoming canning season! Here is an opportunity to get your pressure canner gauge checked for free! Do you have a pressure canner? Come to the UF/IFAS Extension Polk office from 10am-12pm to get your pressure canner gauge checked. We will have equipment available to test your pressure canner dial gauge to get it ready for canning! If you can't make it between 10am and 12pm, you can drop it off at an earlier time and pick it up within the next week or so after testing. If neither of these work, call 863-519-1072 or email [email protected], and we will try to arrange something. It is recommended to check dial gauges yearly.Gauges that read high cause under-processing and may result in unsafe food. Low readings cause over-processing.
