Description
STAMFORD, CT — The Stamford Police Department is investigating a shooting that occurred in the city's South End last Friday night that left a 19-year-old man hospitalized with several gunshot wounds.
Capt. Richard Conklin of the SPD said the shooting took place at the corner of Woodland Avenue and Pacific Street shortly after 11 p.m. on Aug. 13. The victim was shot in the torso, arm and leg, and was transported to Stamford Hospital in a private vehicle, Conklin said.
Police recovered shell casings at the scene, Conklin said, along with a 9 mm semi-automatic handgun with an extended magazine, and "a large amount" of crack cocaine packaged for sale.
"The victim hasn't been overly cooperative in this investigation," Conklin said, noting that it's too early to determine a motive or how many people were involved. "We're still pulling videos and interviewing witnesses. Even though it was 11 p.m., it was a nice night and there were a lot of people in that area and vehicles driving by. We're lucky no one was killed in this incident."
Anyone with information is asked to call the Stamford Police Department Detective Bureau at 203-977-4417.
