Here are the top stories in Middletown today: The City Of Middletown's Fire Department will have a new Fire Chief, John "Jay" Woron II, if approved by the Common Council. Mayor Florsheim chose him to replace the retired Chief Robert Kronenberger and Deputy Chief Albert Leary earlier in the summer. Woron, a 24-year veteran in Middletown, has overseen the department's training, EMS and safety divisions. (Middletown Press) Booster doses of Pfizer and Moderna COVID-19 vaccine will soon be available in Connecticut for moderately to severely immunocompromised persons. Information about eligibility and clinic locations can be found on the City's website. (City Of Middletown) A portion of Spring Street in the city's North End has been converted to a one-way road to improve pedestrian and children's safety near Macdonough Elementary school. Bike trails in Middletown are also planned to expand from the North End across the city to Veteran's Park. (Middletown Press) Help fill the shelves for Amazing Grace Food Pantry. Local civic groups Altrusans, Civitans, and Soroptimists are joining the St. Pius community to collect food, personal products, school supplies, and monetary donations to fill the Pantry shelves.
