2 professional guides will discuss techniques to successfully forage for edible plants & practice Mindfulness all in the Natural World This is a SPECIAL LIMITED TICKETED event! Only open to the first 15 paid folks. Please click on the EventBrite link. $25 per person includes two professional guides and a unique Tea Ceremony from foraged plants. This Experience will be a combination of learning about how to successfully forage πΏ for edible plants in the natural world around us while we practice mindfulness techniques π to help strengthen our bond with the more-than-human world, disconnect from our digital world, and rejuvenate our bodies, minds and souls.Β Our time together will conclude with a Tea Ceremony brewed on site using items foraged from the wilds of our area. π΅π« The Foraging Experience will be led by Debbie Naha-Koretzky (the "Wild Edibles Lady") who will help us discover the edible plants of our area. She will discuss plant identification, safety, sustainable harvesting, look-alike plants, and nutrition. Debbie is a registered dietician, Rutgers Master Gardener, Pennsylvania Master Naturalist, certified science teacher, and author. She has conducted countless foraging programs in PA & NJ, and has received her master's degree in Clinical Nutrition from NYU. She is author of Foraging Pennsylvania and New Jersey. While we learn about Foraging for wild edibles, we will also wander together for about 2 miles along the winding wooded trails of the Jordan Creek Parkway where we will spend time exploring the winding wooded trails π³π² practicing mindful breathing and the other Mindfulness techniques which are proven to help reduce stress and anxiety, slow us down, and help us be present and live in the moment. We will settle in for our sit spot meditation and council circle nestled next to the Jordan Creek. Ending with a special foraged Tea Ceremony. π΅ Β Let's spend time settling in, focusing on our senses, disconnecting from our digital lives, and really connecting with each other and Mother Nature π³π while we learn about Foraging for wild edible plants. You can park on either side of the road, but we will meet at the entrance to the Disc Golf on the north side of Lehnert Road. https://maps.app.goo.gl/xqv3FWAcMoBgYpN87 Look for my WHITE PICKUP TRUCK.**************** We will be walking mostly on the trails, which are well traveled dirt/gravel π but we may wander a bit too. This 2 mile loop route is listed as mostly EASY with a few SLIGHTLY MODERATE ups and downs. πΆββοΈπΆββοΈPlease be prepared to walk on a natural dirt trail by wearing solid hiking boots or shoes. π₯Ύπ₯ΎΒ Our afternoon will also be spent pausing & connecting with Nature and practicing proven ways to settle in, get centered & grounded, and help alleviate some of our stresses and anxieties by learning to become more present. More Mindful. This adventure may also include:Waking up and warming up our bodies.Exploring the intimate nooks and crannies of some of the less traveled areas.Spending some time with a special tree.Maybe finding an off trail hiding place to settle in and take in the views while we practice a seated meditation (sit spot)Really connecting with our senses and spending time with Nature.Ending with "council practice" where we will reconnect and share our Experiences with each other. Bring your favorite blanket to cloak yourself in and/or bring a small towel or pad for sitting for our sit spot meditation (20 minutes). π§ββοΈπ§ββοΈ You may also choose to stand. The restrooms may or may not be open. Please plan accordingly. Β It is expected to be partly sunny with temperatures in the upper 70's and light winds. π REFUNDS will only be provided in extreme cases. A refund will NOT be provided should you decide not to attend because of another conflict or disliking the weather, so choose wisely. If ChuckWalks reschedules the event due to "dangerous" weather, your fee will be transferred to the new date or a refund MAY be given on a case by case basis.
