JOLIET, IL — An 18-year-old Joliet resident was arrested Saturday afternoon in connection with allegations that he possessed a stolen gun on Western Avenue, Joliet police said.
Nai Brown is now lodged in the Will County Jail on charges of aggravated unlawful use of a weapon, possession of a stolen gun, having no FOID and unlawful possession of ammunition. Joliet police said that patrol officers were first called to the 100 block of North Center Street around 3:15 p.m. for a disturbance.
"Officers determined that Brown had been involved in a disturbance with a family member and had left the residence" prior to the officer's arrival, Sgt. Dwayne English indicated. "Officers gained information that Brown may be armed with a handgun. Officers checking the area located Brown near the 300 block of Western Avenue."
When police approached the teenager, Brown indicated he had a gun in his possession, English stated. Police confiscated Brown's gun as evidence, and he was taken to Will County's Jail.
Jail logs indicate that Brown previously lived on Cottonwood Circle in Bolingbrook. His bail has been set at $53,000.
