Description

SAN LEANDRO, CA — PG&E has warned 16 counties that a Public Safety Power Shutoff may happen Tuesday, but San Leandro residents will be spared. The North Bay and other Northern California communities will be impacted, but not the East Bay. Dry offshore winds are in the forecast which, combined with drought conditions and extremely dry vegetation, increase the risk for wildfire. About 39,000 customers could be affected, the majority in Butte and Shasta counties. A small number of that total —12,000 — are in Napa, Solano, Sonoma, Mendocino, Lake, Humboldt, Tehama, Glenn, Trinity, Lassen, Sierra, Plumas, Yolo, and Yuba counties. PG&E has its own staff meteorologists who are monitoring weather conditions from the utility's Emergency Operations Center in San Francisco. — Bay City News contributed to this story
