WESTLAKE, OH — A single shot was fired at a pickup truck parked at Crocker Park last week, police announced. On Aug. 5, at 11 p.m., a 911 caller contacted police and said they had seen someone fire a gun from a car parked on the street at Crocker Park. Officers searched the area but couldn't find the car or any other witnesses. The caller was asked to go to Westlake Police Department. When officers examined their pickup truck, they found a bullet hole in the tail gate, police said. Evidence from the shooting was collected and interviews with other people involved began to unfurl the story. That evening, a fight broke out between people at Crocker Park. The incident ended with one person shooting a gun at the truck, police said. The suspect, a 23-year-old from North Olmsted, was identified by police and then taken into custody. The suspect faces charges of felonious assault-shooting and improperly handling a firearm in a motor vehicle, police said.
