OCEANSIDE, NY — Police arrested a man, accused of breaking into his ex-girlfriend's Oceanside home, detectives say. Officers were responding to a domestic disturbance call just after 12:30 a.m. Monday when the woman said her ex-boyfriend gained access without permission to the home and fled after spotting him, according to police. Police checked the area with the help of their K9 unit and located Brian Maloney, 36, nearby. He was placed under arrest without further incident, detectives say. He had several items in his possession that belonged to the woman, according to police. Maloney was taken to an area hospital for treatment and assessment. He is charged with second-degree burglary and petit larceny, police say. Maloney's arraignment will happen "when medically practical," police said in a news release.
