Description

I need to establish new friendships with musicians/musical people in several different genres. Through various situations, time, aging, people passing away, I have lost a lot of the people that I used to bond with over music. But people that you share music with are the people that you love the most, at least that’s what I find. The people I had musical bonds with were my favorites. The genre’s vary widely, so if you start reading and see one you don’t like, please keep reading as there may be one further down that you DO. I will list the genre and the musical influences I love in that genre and if you connect with me on those musical influences, perhaps you can reach out to me and say hello and we can start a conversation about music and see where things take us. Please no psychos, perv guys, I’m just not up for any bullshit. Covid has really taken a lot out of everybody, so let’s just keep this simple, honest and pure. I realize it’s CL, but I thought I’d give it a shot anyway and hope for the best. I’m gonna start with the more uptight stuff and work my way toward the looser stuff. Classical & Opera: My dad is an opera singer so I am classically raised. I would love to have a new friend to go to the LA opera with, perhaps to go to the movies and watch the New York Met Opera when they are performed in the movie houses again on Wednesday nights once a month. I would also love to have a friend to go to the Hollywood bowl orchestral shows or the Walt Disney Hall to hear Live performances of pieces like Rimsky-Korsakov’s Scheherazade, Ravel and Debussy piano works, Rachmaninoff 2nd and 3d piano concerto‘s, or Rhapsody upon a theme of Paganini. Chopin Nocturn’s & preludes, maybe we could catch Martha Argerich if she goes out on tour again? I wouldn’t mind seeing the Nutcracker at Christmas time, and I haven’t been to the ballet to see Swan Lake in many years so that’s another option. I’m down for Mozart too. I wanna have someone in my life who already knows some of this music and is excited about it, I can’t train you to like this stuff. Lol. You either do or you don’t. The point of having an Opera/Classical friend is that you need to be able to talk about this stuff,…and if someone doesn’t know it,…then you just end up lecturing and teaching through the whole thing and that’s not what I’m after. Old School metal/classic hard rock/60’s - 90’s: I was a lead guitarist/singer in a hard rock/metal grunge band in the 80’s & 90’s. I totally love going to shows to see bands like Iron Maiden, Black Sabbath/Ozzy, Queensryche, Megadeth, A Perfect Circle, smashing pumpkins, and tribute bands for Pink Floyd, Led Zeppelin, Rush, The Doors, Soundgarden, Nirvana, AC/DC, cool sh*t. Jazz: My friend I called Uncle Bruce and I used to go to jazz concerts all the time and we saw some amazing people. He’s gone now, so I really haven’t had anyone to go see jazz concerts with for awhile. So if you would be interested in seeing live performances when they start again for acts like what I’m about to list, please respond!:Pat Metheny, Terrence Blanchard, Dave Grusin, Gretchen Parlato, Terrace Martin, George Benson, Esperanza Spaulding, Herbie Hancock, Yellowjackets, Soulive, The Robert Glasper Experiment, Diana Krall, Stephon Harris, Eliane Elias, Elena Enjibaryan, and another 1000 artists. Neo-Soul, R&B, Funk; I love these artists so much and I’ve been playing them on the radio for years, I need someone who knows this material so we can talk about their music: Erykah Badu, Jill Scott, Me’shell N’degeO’cello, D’Angelo, Maxwell, Sade, Jazmine Sullivan, H.E.R., Musiq Soulchild, Dwele, Ledisi, The Internet, Syd, Joya Mooi, A Tribe Called Quest, Eric Roberson, Omar, Hope Tala, DJ Spinna, Moonchild, Sam Wills, Jordan Rakei, …you get the idea. ; If you just want musical friends to go to shows with that’s cool, if you are a musician I’d be totally down to jam and play together, but it should be just for fun and recreational stuff, only would go out and perform live if we sounded amazingly good! Lol. And I’m a multi instrumentalist so I play guitar, my piano skills are decent, used to play flute and clarinet and can knock out some stuff on mandolin as well. I was also lead singer for several years but that’s another story. I am calling on the universe to send me my musical pals. You need to be cool, and laid-back, and easy to get along with, I know it’s still Covid time out there, but we can connect on Music and get ready to go back out to the concert halls and maybe go check out the new amoeba music location in Hollywood. I know it’s a really off-the-wall ad, but it was the only idea I could come up with for this during a pandemic. Lol. Thanks for reading!
