Rehoming Oakley the Hound

Description

I am rehoming Oakley the hound. He is a sweet older dog (8) who I have had for 2 years. I am no longer able to give him the love he deserves. Only outstanding health issue is his partial loss of vision. He is able to navigate, jump on beds, understand there is a slider door in front of him, etc. He just has a hard time with very small things like a the size of a treat or even throwing a treat in the air. When at home he is a cuddle MONSTER. All he wants is to be pet and cuddled with. I allow him on the furniture and bed which he just loves. While on walks he typically likes to just mind his own business and is involved in whatever he is doing. I do have another dog who he gets along super well with, however, I have not experienced him around cats. Oakley knows basic commands like sit and stay. He is potty trained and I have a dog door for him to just go in and out as he pleases. My first year with him I had him as an apartment dog. He never had accidents in the house and I made sure to walk him first thing in the morning and then whenever I could throughout the day. If you're new to pet ownership or just want a companion for a couple of years I hate to say it but Oakley would be a good fit as an older dog. Healthy Tree Walker Coonhounds live to be about 12 years old. Although he is a Coonhound he does not howl often. When you get him he may be excited and do some howling for attention but that's about it. Otherwise he just lays around all day and cuddles when you're home.
