Description
We spent 3 weeks and made dozens of calls on Craigslist puppy adds. This is what we learned:
The MAJORITY of the adds for pets on Craigslist are SCAMS! "Buyers" will play on your emotions to SCAM you. MANY OF THE PHOTOS OF PETS AND PUPPIES ARE FAKE OR STOLEN IMAGES!!
Use Google Image to verify the photo of the pet: https://www.google.com/imghp?hl=EN
If a "Seller"demands a "deposit" or "holding fee" for "rehoming" or "adopting" the pet without first providing you VERIFIABLE information, legal ID's, or legitimate support information you are about to get ripped off.
- They will typically tell you "other" buyers are on the way to pick up the pet and if you don't put up a "holding fee" the pet will be gone. THEY ARE SCAMMING YOU!
If they demand ANY "upfront" fee and will not allow you to pay for the pet upon picking it up, THEY ARE SCAMMING YOU!
If they will not provide you with the same information they are asking from you, THEY ARE SCAMMING YOU!
If they are requiring you to use a pay app without providing you their complete VERIFIABLE information, THEY ARE SCAMMING YOU!
If they are asking you to "trust" them, THEY ARE SCAMMING YOU!
If they require that you purchase a gift card to pay them a deposit or "holding" fee, THEY ARES SCAMMING YOU!
YOU SHOULD ALSO KNOW THAT "REHOMING" FEES AND "ADOPTION" ARE NEGOTIABLE!!!
Hopefully Craigslist not delete this warning. Buyers need to be warned and aware of how these disreputable Sellers play this game to rip them off.
I hope this helps Buyers from being taken advantage of by the many scum bags that use CRAIGSLIST to scam them!
