Diesel Shop Assistant/ Apprentice Job Summary We are looking for an energetic, enthusiastic shop assistant to join our growing team. In this entry-level position, you will assist our diesel techs and shop manager with a variety of tasks, while learning the basics of heavy-duty diesel maintenance including how to operate various machinery. Shop Assistant Duties and Responsibilities • Provide general assistance around the shop, including administrative and technical tasks • Stock & refill materials in appropriate quantities • Clean and maintain both shop & equipment as directed • Provide assistance to shop manager & diesel techs, as needed • Assist in complete preventative maintenance for equipment; • Assist in inspecting equipment and detecting excessive wear • Operate various shop equipment, as needed • May perform other general duties as needed Shop Assistant Requirements and Qualifications • High school diploma or GED equivalent or Pursuing • Previous experience in manufacturing or shop work, including metal or wood shop classes (preferred) • Aptitude for mechanics • Familiarity with hand tools • Capacity to analyze a situation and prioritize tasks • Strong communication skills • Exceptional hand-eye coordination • Physically capable of standing for extended periods of time and lifting up to 70 pounds
