Healthy one year-old bonded pair they lay eggs that do not hatch. Beautiful happy little creatures I’ve had them for a year. My life has changed I just don’t have the time. They eat clean dandelion leaves, sprouted chia seeds. Bird seed, bug type fish food. They are bug eaters but other than fruit flies I can’t find anything else they will eat live. And in summer they sit by the window and when it gets dark they go in their little nest and cuddle. They sing gently during the day and then in winter they have a grow light and sunshine when it’s not too cold by the window. I don’t let the temperature get below 70 degrees. I let them out weekly to clean them And they fly around the room singing to each other and doing love stuff 😉 and then I shut the door and they go back in after about an hour. I’ve never had the time to finger train them and they still seem scared of me if I stay too close to the cage too long. I leave the music on during the day and they seem to like that. They are not afraid of my cats or dogs who love to watch them. In summer I grow dandelions and put the pot in until it gets dirty and switch it out with a new one. They love to dig in the dirt. They eat a lot of birdseed being only a few inches high it’s amazing. They are very fussy eaters and only like the tiny seeds so I switch it out with different brands all the time. I paid 125 a piece. They weren’t cheap but I’m hoping they go to a good home. Google African fire Finch and you will see what they look like or I can send you pictures. I have a large cage if you’re interested for a fee. Oh I just cut branches from outside and switch them out all the time but they also have the toenail scratchy covers on them. The cage is a very large flight cage maybe 3’ x 2’ and may be 4 feet high. Female is mostly brown and the male is very red. Smaller than zebra finches.
