We are looking to hire an individual or group for homeless camp eviction & prevention at Wilshire Park, in NE Portland. This does not include cleaning up debris or removal of items left behind, only working with individual campers to discourage camping at Wilshire Park and encourage getting help from appropriate organizations. This gig has flexible hours and is paid based on meeting project goals, not an hourly wage. It would be well suited for someone looking to make extra income and has familiarity with the homeless/houseless population. Responsibilities: -Discourage overnight RV and tent camping within Wilshire Park -Encourage RV and tent campers in Wilshire Park to seek appropriate services in mental health, substance recovery, educational programs, financial and housing assistance services, as needed. -Immediately respond to new encampments at the park. -Maintain a safe and secure environment for all Wilshire Park visitors. -Monitor Wilshire Park for potentially disruptive situations; de-escalate when appropriate and help campers seek services in areas with service providers. -Transport clients to appropriate service providers, as needed. Minimum Qualifications: -Experience de-escalating volatile situations quickly. -Ability to work calmly and stay organized under pressure, including handling multiple tasks at once. -Ability to work autonomously with minimal direct supervision. -Mature, professional, and capable of working under minimal supervision. -Strong interpersonal skills. -Understanding of the population served by the organization. -Excellent written and verbal communication skills. -Outstanding work habits: punctual, reliable, cooperative, team-oriented. -Demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion and belonging work. -Must be able to lift at least 50 lbs. About Wilshire Park: Wilshire park is a small park located in inner NE Portland. The service zone is outlined in red in the attached image and includes the park and the streets immediately next to it, including 33rd, Skidmore, and 37th. Currently there are no tent encampments, only a small amount of parked RV’s. We would like the campers encouraged to seek help in the appropriate areas, and discouraged from camping at Wilshire Park.
