Description
What is an impasto painting?
Impasto is a technique used in painting, where paint is laid on an area of the surface in very thick layers, usually thick enough that the brush or painting-knife strokes are visible.
A textured surface can also be achieved by way of applying a texture paste to a canvas prior to painting it. Texture paste can be purchased or it can be made.
"Deep Blue Sea" is a 16" x 20" impasto using a combination of texture paste and real sand dollars gathered from the Seaside, Oregon shores. The finished piece permanently rests in a floating frame.
"Deep Blue Sea" by Artist Kathy Conrad is ready to hang and sells for $50.
