The sad facts concerning this Afghanistan debacle is that it started, for us at least, on September 11, 2001 during the Bush/Cheney administration. Now his daughter is blaming Biden. We have lost about 2500 of our finest over the last 20 years for nothing. The Russians went through the same thing between 1977-1988. While I am deeply sorry for what awaits the fate of the Afghan people, particularly the women, like Biden said. We can not be nation builders. The two most powerful countries on earth spent 32 years and multiple trillions of dollars or rubles trying to bring that place under control under either a democracy or an autocracy and were not successful. Either would be preferable to what awaits them now. According to experts and Biden, the Afghan army had 300 thousand troops versus 75 thousand Taliban. When push came to shove, they laid down their weapons in fear. In my opinion, although we can empathize with them, we owe the Afghan people nothing.
