I have three pairs of male gerbils ready for a new home. Males are known to be friendlier and less territorial than females.
Pairs available:
1 gray and 1 orange -2 months old
1 brown and 1 orange - 7 weeks old
1 brown and 1 black - 7 weeks old
If you need to meet I will drive as far as 30 minutes out from las cruces.
Gerbil care tips:
-keep in pairs of 2, gerbils are social animals. However, do not separate an already bonded pair for more than 24 hours cause they can forget each others scent and fight.
-best to house them in an aquarium because they dig around in their bedding a lot
-can feed them occasional treats like unsalted nuts or small pieces of lettuce. Their main diet should consist of gerbil food though.
-never grab them by the tail! To hold them simply hold your hand flat in the cage and they should start inspecting it. Then they will walk right on! Be very gentle with them. They don’t bite, but if they are handled aggressively then they might behave in unpredictable ways just like any animal. I recommend supervising any small children handling them.
-gerbils are less smelly than hamsters. It is recommended to clean their bedding at least once a week though. Avoid wooden/pine bedding and go for paper.
Ok, now that you know the proper care, if you’re still interested in taking in some of these little sweethearts, you can contact me at 5o 5 -six-nîne5-65eighht2
