Description
Hello! We take in pet surrendered betta fish and also save them from pet shops that are killing them slowly in tiny little cups on shelves. Please note that I do not support the continued abuse of these fish by buying the fish. They will never take them off the shelves or care for them properly if people keep buying them as they are. What I do is periodically stop in and when I find them in visually poor health, I haggle them to let me rescue them for free. This way they lose money and inventory and we get to save the fish. Maybe one day they'll either change the rules to properly hold and sell them or stop selling them altogether. We are creating enclosures for, rehabbing, and then rehoming these fish to loving families that prove they know how and are able to take care of them properly. We're looking for donations so we can expand our capability to help.
We could use the following:
- 2.5 gallon and larger fish tanks (please note under 5 gallons is only suitable for babies, we do not put adults in anything smaller than a 5 gallon tank) This is our biggest need, as they come in cups or are surrendered in bags most of the time and we end up running to the store for a new tank!
- Filters
- Tank Heaters
- Pumps
- Rocks or Gravel
- Plants (Fake or Live)
- Fish Food
- pH Testing Kits
We are accepting rescues and surrenders at this time. Drop off for rehoming or donations is in Warren at 9 Mile and Groesbeck. If it will really help, we are willing to make a short drive to pick up.
ANY HELP IS HELP, WE APPRECIATE EVEN THE SMALLEST DONATIONS!
