Guitarist Frontman/Songwriter Looking For Band

Meets

Hazel Park MI

Description

I am a 30 year old singer/songwriter currently sitting on an albums worth of material. I play a sort of amalgamation of rhythm and lead guitar, but the songs are fairly straight forward and I can play through them with zero deviations. I have lyrics for about half of them, but I would potentially be open to splitting lyrics/singing with another band member. My primary influences are Interpol, Bloc Party, The Strokes, Franz Ferdinand, Beach House, Pixies, The Cribs, The Killers (first 3 albums), The Drums, Joy Division/New Order, The Smiths, Blur, David Bowie, The Velvet Underground/Lou Reed, and on and on. What I'm really looking for is a second guitarist, bassist and of course, a drummer. Ideally, everyone will be capable and willing to write their own parts. Also, it's important to state that everyone will have equal room to put their "stamp" on the material, but I see myself as fulfilling a certain kind of role. One where I am coming up with all, or almost all of the source material. However, I am no Kevin Parker (Tame Impala) or Joseph Mount (Metronomy). I am not capable, in my eyes, of writing every aspect of the music and producing it all myself. I need a group of guys (or gals) to help me realize my own vision so-to-speak, while taking the music and visuals in directions none of us could ever do on our own. I picture an itinerary consisting of the following: 1. Learn the songs, write, and refine. 2. Play the songs until we hate them. 3. Play some shows 4. Record and the support the album with lots of shows and online support. 5. Profit. I have been in and out of bands for years and it's imperative I take control of a project and never look back. I've played every instrument, been in every role, etc. After years of toiling in a variety of ultimately unsuccessful projects, I feel not only that I've found my voice as an artist, but that I have a pretty good idea of what NOT to do. In so many ways, it really feels like the bases are loaded in the bottom in the 9th, but I'm down 3. It's time to swing for the fences. Apologies to anyone who hates baseball. I have a practice space. I have all the time in the world. I'd love to hear from you. -J
