Systems and Operations Monitor
After-hours monitoring of systems for one of the largest shellfish hatcheries in New England.
- Saturday & Sunday: Midnight - 8a.m.; Monday: 4P.M. to Midnight.
- 24 hours per week. (Other fill in shifts and work opportunities available.)
The Systems and Operations Monitor duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to:
-General night watch duties
-Conduct hourly rounds of the various Hatchery departments, heating and water
systems, the warehouse, walk-in cooler, etc. Log systems data hourly.
-Communicate with appropriate Departmental Managers as needed about system
malfunctions
-Greet visitors - Log arrivals and departures
-Clean/change filters, pump baskets, as needed.
-Monitor backup generator when in operation
-Awareness of tides, winds, and weather
-Some basic cleaning - sweeping, taking garbage out, etc.
Qualifications:
- Reliability/Dependability
- A willingness to learn. The ability to follow verbal and written communications.
- Some mechanical aptitude (procedures can be taught).
- A current driver’s license and reliable transportation
- Ability to work well independently and as part of a team
- Excellent observation skills. The ability to observe system changes or malfunctions.
- Able to communicate problems to appropriate Department Managers verbally, in
writing, and via text.
