Ice cream, mocktails, cocktails...these are just a few of the possibilities in store when you have homemade simple syrups. Join our Geo our Farmer-In-Residence for this workshop where we will harvest herbs right from our garden at Nicholson and make simple syrups that you can take home and add to your favorite food drink, or dessert. Learn more about our garden: www.thenicholsonproject.org/garden About Geo Edwards: Geoffrey “Geo” Edwards is an educator and healing artist whose practice encompasses herbalism, community acupuncture, urban farming, and the creative arts. Geoffrey joined Nicholson in 2021 as our first Farmer-in-Residence where he will oversee our large, organic, neighborhood garden. Envisioned as a central point of engagement with our community, our garden offers a unique opportunity for programming at The Nicholson Project around the intersection of the arts, farming and the natural world. The Nicholson Project is a paid artist residency program coupled with a neighborhood garden that works to support artists and serves as a creative and innovative cultural hub. Our vision is to inspire others to use non-traditional arts and community-centered projects as a pathway toward stronger, more vibrant communities.  We seek to serve as a community anchor that celebrates the community’s authentic identity while infusing new vibrancy into Southeast DC. Ultimately, we will harness the power of creative placemaking to strengthen the existing social fabric of the area.
