Live jazz with Chris Madsen & Lee Rothenberg. The duo will be playing a mix of familiar and lesser-known jazz standards. Please join us for an evening of live jazz with Chris Madsen on saxophone & Lee Rothenberg on guitar. The duo will be playing a mix of familiar and lesser-known jazz standards. For just $20 per person, guests can bring their chairs, blankets, coolers (BYOB) & snacks to the historic Schweikher House in Schaumburg and enjoy some Friday night jazz on the lawn. Attendees are encouraged to arrive between 5:00 pm - 5:30 pm, explore the grounds, safely socialize, set up their chairs, enjoy a beverage(BYOB,) get comfortable and ready to experience live music. Madsen & Rothenberg will play from 5:30 pm - 6:30 pm. It's going to be a lovely way to end the week! Dr. Christopher Madsen’s credits as a saxophonist include performances and recordings with Paul Simon, Wynton Marsalis, Jeff Hamilton, Makaya McCraven, Michael Dease, Ulysses Owens, Ben Williams, Marquis Hill, Jon Irabagon, and countless others. He is a published composer with Kendor Music, Inc., the UNC Jazz Press, and Walrus Music. From 2008 to 2014, he served as Jazz Studies Coordinator for Northwestern University and is currently Jazz Studies faculty at the University of Illinois at Chicago and the University of Wisconsin at Parkside. A graduate of the Juilliard, DePaul University, and University of Illinois music schools, Madsen is also a Vandoren and Conn-Selmer artist and member of the College Music Society, NAfME, National Educator’s Association, and JEN. He has presented clinics, conducted ensembles, and performed around the U.S. and the world. He is one of the most in-demand and versatile saxophonists in Chicago, maintaining an active performance schedule and private studio. For more information on Chris Madsen, visit www.chrismadsen.net Lee Rothenberg has been teaching and playing jazz guitar in the Chicago area for over 10 years and leads a weekly jazz duo at Francesca’s on Bryn Mawr, with world class bassist, Dennis Carroll. Lee performs regularly with some of Chicago’s finest musicians, including Chris Foreman of Soul Message, at well-established jazz venues such as The Green Mill, Andy’s Jazz Club, and the Jazz Showcase. In 2015, Lee was featured in the Chicago Jazz Festival on the Pritzker Stage with The Chicago Jazz Orchestra during their tribute to legendary composer Billy Strayhorn. A graduate of Northwestern University with a Masters Degree in Music from DePaul, Lee teaches all styles of guitar from blues to rock, and pop to jazz.   The Schweikher House Preservation Trust is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization and is listed on both the National Register of Historic Places and the American Institute of Architect’s list of 200 Great Places in Illinois. The Trust was incorporated in 2009 to help oversee Modernist architect Paul Schweikher’s 1938 home & studio. Supporting events hosted by the Trust will help to further develop programs, tours, and outreach opportunities that promote and educate the public about the House and Studio and its former residents.  Tax Identification Number 27-1367307
