ATTENTION! Are you a student in wind band seeking additional playing and performing opportunities? The Band of the West is seeking additional youth musicians to round out our concert band ensemble. NOTE - At this time we have a STRONG need for middle and high school level musicians on ALL wind band instruments. About our ensemble: We are the Band of the West, and our mission is to pay tribute to veterans, active duty personnel and their families. We are the only Sea Cadet band in the U.S. and we are called upon to perform at numerous special events year-round including: - USS SF Memorial - Memorial Day - Veterans Day - Navy Seal Foundation Gala - Fleet Week on Pier 39 - US Naval Academy, Annapolis - NFL Wounded Warrior football game - Pearl Harbor, Hawaii This youth band isn't a "school band" performing twice a year for family and friends. Our ensemble performs high-quality wind band music at 8-10 performances a year. Besides performance opportunities with a great group of players, young musicians can: - Earn Community Service hours through the gift of music - Differentiate yourself for College Admissions - Access advanced regional Sea Cadets training opportunities during school breaks Band of the West (BOTW) is a unit of the U.S. Naval Sea Cadet Corps, a federally chartered 501c3 youth program. BOTW receives endorsements and support from Congresswoman Jackie Speier for our special service missions including Pearl Harbor and most recently Washington D.C. commemorating the 70th anniversary of the end of WWII. The band is scheduled to tour D.C. in Summer 2022. The band rehearses most Saturday mornings in Redwood City, to avoid conflicts with weeknight schoolwork or school band concerts.
