Shiver me timbers, it’s time for the SDCL EPIC Night of Literacy & "The Goonies" Movie at Veterans Park! This year, we’re weighing anchor and setting sail with a PIRATE theme, with free crafts, games, bounce houses, a treasure/scavenger hunt, and more! The Vietnam Veterans' Color Guard will be raising the flag at 6:20pm and representatives from the SDCL and TVA, cosponsors of the event, will open the festivities. The SDCL Ukulele team will be opening the costume contest at 7:30pm with some of our favorite pirate sing-a-longs! Over 25 organizations will have booths with fun learning opportunities, games, giveaways, and information to serve our community.* Some of these organizations will have food and beverages available for a small fee. After the event, we’ll maroon ourselves on the lawn and watch the family-friendly movie "The Goonies" (rated PG) on a giant 33' inflatable screen! The movie will begin around 9pm, be sure to bring a blanket or lawn chairs. NO TICKETS ARE REQUIRED FOR THIS FREE EVENT! This event is free and open to everyone, regardless of residency. Hand sanitizing stations will be located throughout the park and booths, and games and activities will be sanitized regularly throughout the event. Additional safety protocols will be enacted depending on the state of the pandemic.
