PETALUMA, CA — Officers in Petaluma arrested a man accused of hitting another man in the face and then taking the victim's cellphone on Friday, police said. The strong-arm robbery was first reported around 2:40 p.m. along Hopper Street. Officers who arrived on the scene learned a man assaulted a victim and then stole the victim's cellphone. The victim suffered injuries to his face, which were not life-threatening, and he was taken to a hospital, police said. Officers were able to locate the suspect, identified as Frederick Jones, 48, at a nearby homeless camp and arrested him on suspicion of robbery. He's since been booked into the Sonoma County Jail, police said.
