Press release from the City of Albany: 07/28/2021 The California Independent Systems Operator (CAISO) has issued a Flex Alert today (Wednesday, July 28). Please reduce electricity usage to help avoid rolling blackouts, particularly between the hours of 4-9pm.    A Flex Alert is typically issued in the summer when extremely hot weather pushes up energy demand as it reaches available capacity. This usually happens in the evening hours when solar generation is going offline and consumers are returning home and switching on air conditioners, lights, and appliances.
