Looking for a guitarist to join psychedelic jazz band - NO HIRED HANDS

Description

Looking for a guitarist that has the time and commitment level to join a psychedelic jazz band as a MEMBER. If the gig is paid, we will split it up equally between the other members but that’s the extent of it. If money is your motivation or reason for playing music, you can skip the rest of this ad. Must be able to solo improvisationally for long periods of time and learn the “heads” to each tune. We rehearse in Van nuys and would probably be about once a week in the early goings until we get tight enough with about 10-15 tunes then we can focus on just gigging and less rehearsing (until there’s new material to work out). I can’t stress enough the importance of being a reasonably available dude for gigs and rehearsals. A little about what you’d be doing and the music itself: it’s all instrumental, very monotonous and droney kind of “jam band” stuff..tough (but purposely repetitive) grooves from the rhythm section (drums, bass and keys) and then the soloists do their improv over that. As stated above all you’d have to actually learn (outside the structure of the song itself - where and when to solo and etc) is the actual heads to the tunes. The rest is just improvisation for you. Here’s a couple more things that are last but definitely not least. Firstly, you’d need to be ok with me writing most (if not all lol) of the tunes (heads too). Trust me that this is not an ego thing, it’s the exact opposite lol. I’m not skilled enough to play other cats material, it is what it is. There will def be times I will write music that doesn’t have a head and you may be able to come up with one yourself however. Secondly, you’d need to be cool with using specific guitar tones that fit the music (I’m not going to go full militant on it lol, but I def have tones that we’ll need to achieve - for instance you’d be pretty heavily using reverb and at times will need to achieve the 60s Eric Clapton type “woman tone”). If all this sounds cool and you’d like to hear some of the tunes just let me know. Please also include a few examples of your playing in your reply tho (MP3’s or videos) so we can check you out as well. Please make sure any examples you send show you soloing or playing mostly improv stuff as that’s what you’d be doing with us primarily.
