5 Jobs - Demo, Stump Removal, Driveway Stone, Concrete, Gutter
Jobs
438 W Gordon Street near Penn Street, Allentown PA
Description
I am looking for offers any or all of the following tasks: The fence and tree (besides stump) you see in the pictures is already gone. The stairs are partially demolished as well. Demolition: 1. Jackhammer (or sledgehammer if you are a masochist) the steps, curb, and the concrete footers for the posts shown in the pictures. The sidewalk shown in the pictures can just stay where it is. Either haul away or spread maximum one chunk (5" maximum) deep in the area of the coming driveway (to reduce potential settling as stone fills in the gaps later). Haul away the posts for scrap or cut and bag for disposal (city maximum 40 lbs per bag). 2. Remove the stump of the mulberry tree to the left in the picture to 6" below ground level. I would also like you to poison it/hasten the rot. Driveway Overview - 20' long x15' wide concrete pad sloping maximum 10% (2.25' drop over length), followed by another 20' of 3" deep stone without concrete over permanent and permeable weedblock. 3. Driveway wall - Construct a block and concrete wall to retain the stone for the driveway along thew east side of the property (where there is not already a wall). I estimate 25 6x8x16 concrete blocks using these or comparable (I do like the smooth edges for aesthetics): 4. Driveway construction (stone) - Deliver 11 tons of 3/8 clean (1B maximum size) stone to the backyard to form the driveway ramp to the alley. The alley is too narrow for a 8-ton truck, which is why I will not be getting delivery by the stone seller. There are two approaches to the property. The narrower but straight approach is an alley (Wayne Street) shown in the photos which is 8.5' wide at the narrowest, with a 8.5' tallĀ overhang of 15" that is away from the area that you would be dumping. the other approach is 9.5' at narrowest (wheel wells, one side is a wall, the other is open space) with a turn in an open space of 14' wide, 13' deep in direction of travel. Please give me a proposal for both. I will want the stone compacted before doing the concrete. If you are proposing to do stone and concrete, let me know how you will compact it. If you are compacting it, I would like the stone spread out the whole length (40') with weedblock under the last 20' that will not be covered with concrete. If I don't resolve how to compact it properly, I will have the stone without concrete until spring and let gravity and driving on it compact it a bit; in which case, I would only like the ramp to be 20' because I will need to make up for the temporarily missing concrete, later to be york raked out. I prefer red stone for exposed portion of the driveway. It is more expensive than blue construction stone, and the total stone is pretty close to getting a bulk discount (10 tons) so if that is at play, talk with me about possibly doing entirely in construction stone. 5. Install 4" (assume 4.5" for settling into stone) concrete slab over 15'x20' of said stone. Will also consider placing pavers in the stone. I estimate that 4.5 CY of concrete will be needed to account for waste, sinking into the base, and constructing the wall. Please let me know how you plan to cure the concrete and whether the curing will require my maintenance and how frequently. Same narrow alley, so concrete delivery may not be possible. If handmixing, you may need to split up over multiple days (e.g. do two quadrants one day, two more another day). References and pictures of prior work would be appreciated. 6. Short first floor Flashing/Fascia/Gutter work - First floor roof needs repair. See pictures. I'm flexible on means of repair as long as water tight and keeps water from running down the house - redoing the gutter, installing a drip edge and eliminating gutters, etc. I have a permit for a parking lot off the back alley (Wayne Street), including blocking street a total of two days for the driveway construction - no stone can be left in the alley at the end of construction. No power tools can be used on Sunday in Allentown. I have road closed blockade for use at the end of the alley directing people not to use it. I included some photos before the fence and tree were removed because they show the concrete steps closer and better. You are responsible for your own safety and tools. Let me know if your proposal includes materials or if that is another cost to be determined. General Craigslist Post Disclaimers: I respect both our time, and will delete or update the post when it is taken. If this ad is up, it is still available. If you ask if I still want the work, you run the risk of me ignoring your inquiry. Instead, make a proposal or ask questions about the job to be able to do so. Contact only about these jobs. We have no need for assistance from Nigerian Princes nor from people who send too much money via check or money order and want to receive a cash refund. Thanks.
