Drummer here, mid sixties, recently left full time tech job now doing part time consulting, so I have much more free time to devote to music. I rank myself as advanced intermediate, once the cobwebs are knocked off. Mainly classic rock, pop that isn't too sugary, blues, older r&b, funk, and more recent rock with a little jazz and latin thrown in. I read music (drum charts that is) and use charts to bootstrap learning songs. I don't do any song perfectly note for note, mainly because to do that for 40 songs would feel like a job. But I do get darn close on most songs, and always try to get the intro right since that sets things up. Prefer band that wants to get together 2-4 times per month and play a few low key gig per year.
