Make Art: Youth Aluminum Casting Workshop with Artist in Residence Desmond Lewis Youth ages 10-18 will get to create a custom aluminum tile of their own design with artists Desmond Lewis. Participants will carve their design into a sand mold that will then be cast in aluminum on site. Each workshop is limited to 15 students each and space is available on a first-come-first-served basis. Closed toe shoes are required. The student will not be handling any molten alunimum during the class. Desmond will oversee each students art and sculpting. You will get to create a custom aluminum tile of their own design. Each workshop will last about 1 hour. Please wear closed toe shoes to this event. All supplies will be provided and you will be able to take your aluminum tile home. Tickets to attend this are $20 per individual. Desmond Lewis is a sculptor who was born and raised in Nashville, TN. Lewis received his AA from Bard College at Simon's Rock in Great Barrington, MA in 2012, BS from Tennessee State University in Nashville, TN in 2014, and MFA from The University of Memphis in 2017. Terms & Conditions: Parent/Child must agree to follow all rules and safety guidelies discussed at the event. The Tennessee Soybean Festival in located in Martin, Tenn. It is a collaborative effort of the University of Tennessee at Martin, local industry and businesses, leaders in agriculture, churches and community organizations, and countless other volunteers who work together to make the festival bigger and better each year. The TN Soybean Festival provides an opportunity for food, fun and fellowship, all in celebration of Weakley County’s cash crop- the soybean. The event pays tribute to the soybean farmer yet includes something for everyone.
