NOTICE: Board of Assessment Appeals, Town of Hamden, is holding formal appeal hearings September 2021, at which time taxpayers who believe that the valuation of their motor vehicle (registered prior to October 1, 2020) is not accurate can petition the Board to have their assessment modified.
The Petition form must be submitted to the Hamden Assessor's office on or before August 31, 2021 at 4:15 p.m. Submission means this form is physically in the Assessor's office by 4:15 on August 31, 2021. Faxes, electronic application, emails and postmarks will not be accepted. The petition (appeal) form and instructions are available on the town's website:

For contact purposes, please include with your petition an email address and telephone number(s), with supporting document(s). IMPORTANT NOTE: FOUR COPIES (4) MUST ACCOMPANY THE ORIGINAL PETITION, INCLUDING SUPPORTING DOCUMENTS. Use the address noted above, or drop-off the document using the mailbox in front of Town Hall at Government Center.
PUBLIC HEARINGS:
This September applicants can look to the town's website for a date when the hearing will be scheduled and the applicant will be notified via email or by telephone to confirm the same.
Please note: At the decision of the Board of Assessment of Appeals, hearings and deliberations will take place during the evening hours only and electronically, via a program called Zoom. Hearings will be approximately 10 minutes per person.
