HAMDEN, CT — A New Haven man is accused of shooting another man several times during an argument early last Saturday morning in Hamden, according to police.
Police responded to the area of Dixwell Avenue and Goodrich Street around 12:15 a.m. on Aug. 7 on the report of "shots fired," according to Detective Sean Dolan.
Officers found a 43-year-old New Haven resident lying on the sidewalk with several gunshot wounds. The victim was shot multiple times and suffered injuries to his chest and hip, according to Dolan.
The victim was taken to Yale-New Haven Hospital with serious injuries, Dolan said.
An investigation found that the victim had been arguing with Samuel Mabry, who is accused of shooting the victim multiple times during the fight, according to Dolan.
Detective Shawn Nutcher led the investigation into the shooting and obtained an arrest warrant for Mabry.
Mabry, 43, was arrested Aug. 13 on charges of first-degree assault with a firearm, criminal possession of a firearm, illegal discharge of a firearm and carrying a pistol without a permit. Mabry was in custody on unrelated charges at the time of his arrest and held in lieu of an additional $500,000 court set bond, according to Dolan.
