Press release from the School City of Hammond:
August 13, 2021
Dear SCH Families,
We recognize the start of a new school year can be overwhelming to navigate, and even more during a time of COVID-19 uncertainties.
The pandemic has taken a toll on our students. Research from the CDC shows that the pandemic resulted in a significant learning loss for students in scholastic and social-emotional progress. We believe in-person learning is the best option for our students and want to use the 2021-2022 school year to help bridge that learning gap. We want to reassure all families that School City of Hammond administration, principals, teachers, and staff have the safety of your students at the top of our minds. To find out more about how we plan to address COVID-19 issues, please review our comprehensive Return to Learn Plan and our COVID-19 guidelines and requirements for all employees, students, and visitors/volunteers.
These plans will be monitored closely by our Health Services Department. Should SCH need to transition a school to an eLearning format at some point during the school year, SCH will notify all families via ParentSquare and social media.
We appreciate your patience and faith in the resilience of our students. We can't wait to see them back in the classroom again!
