PHILADELPHIA — A Philadelphia man has been federally charged in connection with a series of 2018 armed bank and pharmacies robberies in Philadelphia and Montgomery County. Daniel King, 25, of Philadelphia, is with three counts of bank robbery; four counts of armed robbery of commercial businesses; one count of using and carrying a firearm during and in relation to a crime of violence; and one count of possessing a firearm after having been convicted of a felony. Charging documents allege King robbed the following banks and commercial businesses: the Rite Aid on Windrim Avenue in Philadelphia on June 10, 2018; the PNC Bank on North Broad Street in Philadelphia on June 18, 2018; the Santander Bank on Easton Road in Wyncote on June 20, 2018; the Citizens Bank on South Easton Road in Glenside on June 16, 2018; the Family Financial Check Cashing on West Girard Avenue in Philadelphia on August 28, 2018; the Rite Aid on Rising Sun Avenue in Philadelphia on Sept. 10, 2018; and the Walgreens in Yorktown Plaza in Elkins Park on Sept. 17, 2018. King is accused of robbing the pharmacies and the check cashing business while armed with a handgun, as well as knowingly possessing a firearm loaded with 18 live rounds of ammunition, while also knowing he had previously been convicted of a felony offense which precluded him from possessing firearms. If convicted, King faces a maximum possible sentence of life in prison, with a mandatory seven-year sentence, five years supervised release, and a $2,250,000 fine.
