CONTRA COSTA COUNTY, CA — Contra Costa County began mailing ballots to registered voters Friday, a month ahead of the recall election targeting Gov. Gavin Newsom. Voters should have already received information guides, the county said in a statement. Anyone who does not receive a ballot by Aug. 30 should call 925-335-7800. Still haven't registered to vote? You can do so here. If you need to register after Aug. 30, you'll have to visit an early voting site in Contra Costa, the Elections Division office in Martinez or an Election Day polling place. About 705,000 Contra Costa residents were registered to vote as of Friday. When the time comes to cast your ballot, voters will have the following options. Mail it in: No stamp necessary. Ballots must be postmarked on or before Election Day and received within a week after the election.Drop it off: Take it to a drop-box location near you.Vote early: Visit one of these eight spots on the Friday, Saturday or Monday prior to Election Day.Vote on Election Day: Vote at one of 153 polling places. Your local polling place was listed on your voter information guide, according to the county. Don't forget that the state allows you to sign up to track your ballot throughout the process. "November's election was one of the smoothest elections I've experienced in 30 years. Over 90% of County voters voted by mail in the November Presidential election," registrar of voters Debi Cooper in the statement. "Voters listened to our recommendations and returned their ballots early. This kept voters safe and allowed us to process more ballots for the Election Night count." Have any questions?
