METRO ATLANTA, GA — North Point Community Church's annual Back to School Drive provided necessary school supplies to more than 1,400 elementary and middle school students this week. Students across five local schools benefitted including Amana Academy, Brandywine Elementary, Elkins Pointe Middle School, Mimosa Elementary, and Woodson Park Academy. "Thanks to the generosity of thousands of individuals and the support of many local businesses, more than 1,400 students now have the tools they need to help them succeed this school year," said Ameera Joe, who led the program for North Point Community Church. "We are so thankful to everyone who helped make this happen." Held virtually through Aug. 2, the drive invited the public and church attendees to make donations online. Many local businesses also supported the effort by posting a flyer or making a social media post. "Elkins Pointe Middle School is appreciative for the partnership in education with North Point Community Church," said Erika Edwards, a counselor at the school. "It is imperative for students to have the right to receive school supplies. Properly resourced learning environments ensure students are equipped to succeed. Therefore, a quality education is the gateway to opportunity, and students cannot achieve their highest potential without it. When students are prepared to receive knowledge, it empowers educators to teach and learners to learn." North Point Community Church is located at 4350 North Point Parkway in Alpharetta.
