guitarist wants to play with a group

I've been playing guitar for a long time but never got in with a group of people to play together. I've been trying to learn to improvise with more expression while teaching myself old cover songs. I think I have all that would be needed to play at a bar or small club: a 20W tube amp, small selection of pedals, and a couple of guitars. I guess I'm looking for a group or person to jam with for a couple of hours 1-3 one or maybe 2 days a week. Starting short and building upon that. I'm in my late 30s and think of myself as a pretty goofy dude.
