Residential Design Services is looking for a Flooring Field Superintendent. The position focuses on installer management in new home construction to ensure quality installations are delivered to our clients. Some of the key responsibilities are: POSITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES The primary responsibility of a Flooring Field Superintendent is to manage installers, jobsites and oversee installations in the field. Other responsibilities include pre-inspections for job readiness conditions, timely completions, and post inspections to ensure we are providing quality installations with zero defects. The superintendent position requires a journeyman knowledge and skillsets to prepare and install all types of flooring including tile and stone. Precheck of installations to ensure job readiness for installers. Conducting daily walks of installations through each phase. Routine walks at start of the installations, during the installation and final walk at completion. COMPETENCIES, SKILLS AND ABILITIES Ability to read and understand work orders, blueprints, and correlate with diagrams showing designs using varying types of materials and patterns. All work instructions are to be verified to match provided diagrams, and any discrepancies are to be resolved before work begins Ability to properly layout insets, accents, and patterns to fit the areas to be installed while achieving the intended design Complete product knowledge and understanding of the appropriate use with diverse types of adhesives, caulking, sealers, floor prep products, and cement mortars / grouts Must be able to work in and adjust to varying jobsite conditions typical in new home construction Must have the ability to resolve issues such as scheduling conflicts or substandard work by other trades with the builder’s representative. Any adjustments to the schedule or issues that cannot be worked out in a timely manner must be reported to the office immediately DIRECT REPORTS Oversight responsibilities for employee and subcontract installers at the jobsite REPORTS TO Flooring Installation Manager EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE Preferred experience of 5 years as a journeyman installer, and 8 years in the flooring trade Ability to work professionally and independently providing leadership and a demonstrated capability to work in a team environment Ability to do mathematical calculations to estimate quantities, provide takeoffs when needed, and the ability to determine time, resources, or materials needed to perform a work activity to a timely completion. Ability to communicate effectively and in an appropriate manner in writing and verbally. The ability to write technical reports for service inspections is necessary Ability to work with builder representatives, installers, and other trades in a professional manner LANGUAGE SKILLS · English, Bilingual preferred CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS Certified Floorcovering Installer Certification preferred PHYSICAL DEMANDS Arm-Hand Steadiness -- The ability to keep your hand and arm steady while moving your arm or while holding your arm and hand in one position Trunk Strength -- The ability to use your abdominal and lower back muscles to support part of the body repeatedly or continuously over time without 'giving out' or fatiguing Manual Dexterity -- The ability to quickly move your hand, your hand together with your arm, or your two hands to grasp, manipulate, or assemble objects Extent Flexibility -- The ability to bend, stretch, twist, or reach with your body, arms, and/or legs Static Strength -- The ability to exert maximum muscle force to lift, push, pull, or carry objects Dynamic Strength -- The ability to exert muscle force repeatedly or continuously over time. This involves muscular endurance and resistance to muscle fatigue Handling and Moving Objects -- Using hands and arms in handling, installing, positioning, and moving materials, and manipulating things WORK ENVIRONMENT Job duties will be performed primarily at the job site which may be either residential or commercial Requires employee to be outdoors on a regular basis Will encounter varying weather conditions and temperatures Noise level usually high WORK SCHEDULE M-F 6:00am to 3:00pm TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS A Company Vehicle will be provided There is a fair amount of drive time as the position will cover multiple tracts throughout the east and central valley. Must have a valid driver license and insurance that meets the company’s requirements at all times
